Can a local picnic become an opportunity to explore nature and learn about the environment? During the Strawberry Picnic in Wilkowiecko, residents will discover that a family celebration full of attractions can also inspire action for nature.
At the recreational area near the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wilkowiecko, a special eco-zone led by an eco-manager will be created. Visitors to the picnic - children, young people and adults alike - will find a variety of activities focused on environmental protection and the idea of investing in nature.
The youngest participants will have the opportunity to take part in nature-themed art workshops. During the sessions, children will create their own artworks using natural materials such as wood, leaves and other elements found in nature. These workshops will encourage creativity while also fostering sensitivity to the beauty and value of the natural environment.
Another attraction will be an environmental knowledge contest focused on renewable energy sources. Participants will test their knowledge about solar, wind and geothermal energy, and the best participants will receive prizes. The competition will highlight that modern energy systems based on renewable sources are an important element of building a nature-friendly economy.
During the picnic, visitors will also be able to visit the eco-manager information stand, aimed particularly at adult residents. Here they will receive practical information about replacing heating sources, building thermal modernisation and available support programmes that improve the energy efficiency of homes.
By combining the relaxed atmosphere of a family picnic with environmental education, the event demonstrates that investing in nature can begin with local meetings, conversations and shared experiences in nature. Events like this help build environmental awareness among residents and inspire actions that contribute to protecting the environment and improving quality of life in the municipality.
The event is implemented as part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
Hosts: Monika Cipcińska, eco-manager of the Opatów Municipality, the ‘Wilkowiecko – tu się dzieje’ Association, and the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wilkowiecko.
