Description
The sustainable fashion show features garments created from customised second-hand clothing, giving new circularity to textile remnants that can no longer be directly reused. Through upcycling, new and innovative garments are crafted from discarded pieces, breathing new life into designs and preventing textiles from becoming waste while reintroducing them into the market in a sustainable way. Led by the Viladecans City Council, recognised as a Green Leaf 2025 city, this initiative is carried out in collaboration with Solidança, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting social and labour integration. Solidança achieves this through waste management and recovery activities, as well as initiatives focused on the circular economy and waste prevention.
The show aims to highlight the transformative power of upcycling in the fashion industry, demonstrating how discarded textiles can be turned into innovative, stylish, and sustainable garments. This initiative aligns perfectly with European Green Week 2025’s focus on the circular economy, presenting practical solutions to reduce textile waste and promote more sustainable consumption habits. The event will take place at the Viladecans Recycling Centre, ‘Viladecans Repara,’ which will be transformed into a vibrant space to showcase upcycled fashion.
The day will be marked by a festive and engaging atmosphere and will include:
- A runway featuring unique outfits made from repurposed textiles.
- Live explanations of the environmental benefits of each design, such as water savings and CO2 reduction.
- Refreshments for attendees.
- A live music concert.
Additionally, a guided tour will be organised at “Encants de Viladecans,” the municipal second-hand store that promotes responsible consumption by offering pre-owned fashion, household items, and other reused products.
With its celebratory spirit, the event seeks to inspire behavioural change and encourage both individuals and businesses to adopt a circular fashion model. It offers a holistic approach to sustainability - beyond the fashion show, the event integrates education, entertainment, and community participation to reinforce its message of circularity and environmental responsibility.
Being a European Green Leaf City 2025, we will display the Green Leaf logo.
