Theatre for the planet: an eco challenge for the young generation

  • Conferences and summits

During the next edition of the Tarnogórski Green Week with Theatre, young audiences will have the opportunity to watch the performance 'Eco-challenge' — an energetic, nature-positive production that explores ecology and environmental responsibility in a way that truly resonates with young people.

The play tells the story of a young boy who dreams of becoming popular on social media. In order to gain attention online, he decides to organise a spectacular protest action in defence of the environment. However, he soon discovers that the line between genuine commitment and acting 'for likes' can be very thin. The protagonist must face the consequences of his decisions and answer an important question: do his actions truly help protect the planet?

The performance combines environmental themes with reflection on the role of the internet and influencers in the lives of young people. The story touches on issues such as waste segregation, reducing air pollution, recycling and responsible consumer choices — framing each as a personal investment in nature and in the health of our shared environment. Thanks to its dynamic form, lively dialogue and numerous references to contemporary online culture, the play speaks directly to young audiences.

After the performance, a short meeting with the actors will take place, giving students the opportunity to discuss ecology, activism and practical ways of investing in nature through everyday actions. The discussion will encourage participants to reflect on which choices truly help the planet and why responsibility for the environment begins at home, at school and in the decisions we make every day.

The event is part of the third edition of theatre performances organised within the Tarnogórski week of environmental activities. The performances will take place at the Tarnogórskie Centrum Kultury and are intended for primary school students and young people.

The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.

Host: Marek Stebnicki, eco-manager of the Tarnowskie Góry Municipality.
