Description

The Toy Recycling Festival, as part of EU Green Week 2025, is an innovative event aimed at encouraging sustainability, circular economy principles, and conscious consumption among children. By encouraging children to donate, repair, exchange, and redesign their toys, the festival not only reduces waste but also raises awareness about responsible consumption and environmental protection. Through hands-on activities, interactive workshops, and storytelling, participants will learn the importance of reuse while enjoying a playful and educational experience.
The Toy Recycling Festival area will feature multiple activity zones. The Toy Donation Corner will be located where children can leave toys they no longer use. This initiative fosters feelings of sharing and equality, allowing toys to be passed on to other children. The Toy Repair Workshop Corner will teach children repair techniques, with the help of skilled volunteers and educators, giving broken toys a second chance instead of discarding them. The Toy Exchange Corner provides a platform for children to exchange their old toys for new ones, encouraging second-hand consumption. In the Creative Redesign Corner, children can personalise and transform toys using craft materials and tools available at the festival, fostering their creativity and emphasising the concept of reuse.
Additionally, there will be a playground at the event where children can explore different toys and socialise with others. The festival will also include educational animation screenings focused on sustainability, waste reduction, and conscious consumption, presented in an engaging and humorous way. These cartoons will make environmental issues more interesting to young minds.
Furthermore, environmental experts and educators will lead awareness sessions throughout the festival, highlighting the impact of toy waste and the benefits of a circular economy. This event is not intended to be a one-time occurrence but is seen as the first step towards establishing a permanent 'Toy Library', where children can borrow toys, donate their own, and experience sustainable toy culture.
This festival, which will involve schools, non-governmental organisations, and municipalities, aims to create a long-term sustainable impact with significant environmental and social benefits.
