Description

As part of EU Green Week 2025, the LIFE Wood for Future project is organising a full-day event on 8 June in Valderrubio (Granada), titled "Paints of a Circular Bioeconomy from the Poplar Groves of Granada." The programme highlights the environmental, economic and cultural importance of poplar groves in the region.
The morning features the first-ever speed painting contest set in the picturesque Lorca poplar groves, aimed at creatively reflecting the link between nature and sustainability. In the evening, a public seminar will gather local authorities, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss the poplar groves' role in biodiversity, their contribution to a circular bioeconomy, and the outcomes of the LIFE Wood for Future project.
The event also presents the University of Granada spin-off Iberolam Timber & Technology, an initiative promoting sustainable wood innovation. The day will close with an award ceremony for the painting contest.
