Description
In alignment with EU Green Week, a series of impactful events focusing on water resilience have been organized by various universities throughout June 2024. These events underscore the critical importance of sustainable water management practices in mitigating the impacts of climate change and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The University of Oradea will host several activities starting with a visit to the municipal wastewater treatment plant, emphasizing the significance of effective wastewater treatment in maintaining water quality and resilience.
A series of presentations by esteemed faculty and experts will follow. Domuța Cristian, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Protection, will discuss "Water Management in the Context of Climate Change in Romania," addressing strategies for adapting water management practices to the challenges posed by climate change.
Monica Crișan, Environmental Commissar at the Romanian National Guard, will present "Towards a Water Resilient Europe," exploring the broader European context of water resilience and the need for collaborative efforts across the continent. Carmen Ghergheleș, Associate Professor, and Dana Marele, Lecturer, will present on the "Use of Geothermal Wastewater in Hydroponic Crops," demonstrating how alternative water sources can be harnessed for sustainable agriculture.
The Università di Parma will hold a workshop on "Ecological Transformations: Ethics and Praxis in Environmental Humanities." This workshop will include a case study on the film "Delta" by Michele Vannucci, focusing on the Po River in contemporary audiovisual narration. The event aims to highlight the cultural and environmental significance of water bodies and their crucial role in shaping resilient ecosystems. Atlantic Technological University will host a panel debate on "Towards a Water Resilient Europe."
This debate will address the necessary policies and practices for building water resilience across Europe, fostering dialogue among experts and stakeholders. The Universidad de Extremadura will offer a series of events including talks by researchers and visits to water treatment plants, engaging the general public. These events are designed to raise awareness about the importance of water treatment and conservation efforts.
