As head of Insurance Europe’s personal and general insurance department, Nicolas Jeanmart contributes to the global and European debates on non-life and life insurance. In recent years, the question of how to reduce insurance protection gaps, notably in the areas of natural catastrophes, pensions, cyber and health, has kept him especially busy; he actively contributed to the protection gaps report of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA), was involved in the European Commission's Reflection Group on Climate Resilience Financing and was co-rapporteur of the Commission’s Climate Resilience Dialogue.
His responsibilities also span motor insurance, access to in-vehicle data, emerging risks, liability insurance, taxation and anti-money laundering. Nicolas is a member of EIOPA’s Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group and has served on the European Commission’s High-Level Expert Group on pensions. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the European Parliamentary Financial Services Forum.
Before joining Insurance Europe in 2010, Nicolas led the banking supervision and economic affairs department at the European Savings Banks Group (ESBG) for four years, following several roles within the organisation. Earlier in his career, he provided consultancy and training services, primarily to the financial sector, in Belgium and Luxembourg.
