Prof. Dr. Lilian Busse is Vice-President of the German Environment Agency (UBA) since 2021.
The doctor of biology, she had been Head of Division "Environmental Health and Protection of Ecosystems at UBA since April 2015.
She previously spent 10 years working in research and policy advising at the California Environmental Protection Agency.
Ms. Busse represents the UBA on several scientific advisory boards, committees, and executive boards. She is also an Honorary Professor at Technical University of Munich since 2023.
The German Environment Agency emphasizes that a green and just circular economy is a necessary condition for sustainable development. It uses its long-standing and diverse expertise, ranging from waste management technologies to product design and sustainable consumption and production, to provide reliable and consistent guidance for policy making, business, and society.
