Biotechnology is a key enabling technology in this transition. Bio-based materials, biosolutions for agriculture and industrial biotechnology can help reduce reliance on fossil resources, lower environmental impacts across value chains and support the development of innovative, nature-positive production systems.
 
Despite Europe's strong research capacity, many biotechnology-enabled solutions struggle to move from pilot stage to large-scale industrial deployment due to financing gaps, regulatory complexity and scale-up challenges.
 
In preparation for the EU Biotech Act II, and against the background of the EU bioeconomy strategy and Biotech Act I, this event explores how the policy ambitions of the upcoming EU Biotech Act can help mobilise investment and accelerate the deployment of biotechnology-based solutions that contribute to a competitive and nature-positive European economy. A dedicated panel will bring together investors, policymakers and innovators to discuss practical pathways for financing nature-positive biotechnology at scale.
