Description
This webinar, organised as part of the EU Green Week 2025, will highlight advancements in bio-based and circular plastics through the POLYMEER and FURIOUS projects. These initiatives, funded by the CBE Joint Undertaking, are developing sustainable polymer solutions to replace fossil-based plastics, supporting the transition to a competitive, clean, and circular economy.
The event will explore how novel bio-based polymers derived from renewable sources can be designed for recyclability and biodegradability, targeting applications in the biomedical, electronic and industrial packaging, automotive, underwater, and agricultural sectors. Participants will gain insights into innovative biopolymer production processes, the role of industrial symbiosis, and the potential of bioeconomy-driven circularity.
Key objectives of the webinar include:
- Showcasing sustainable polymer innovations and their applications.
- Highlighting circular economy business models within the plastics industry.
- Engaging stakeholders from academia, industry, and policy sectors.
- Fostering public awareness on bio-based alternatives to traditional plastics.
The session will feature presentations from researchers and industry partners, followed by an interactive discussion on circular bioeconomy challenges and opportunities. Join us to discover how sustainable plastics are shaping the future of materials and circular economy strategies in Europe.
