Midsummer inspirations for nature

  • Conferences and summits

Can a traditional Midsummer picnic become an inspiration for discussing the environment and the future of our economy? In Zawiercie, the answer is yes. During the event, residents will have the opportunity to spend time together outdoors while discovering how everyday actions influence the environment, air quality and the way natural resources are managed.

The event will take place in the Municipal Park next to the Municipal Cultural Centre in Zawiercie and will take the form of a family Midsummer eco-picnic. Various municipal institutions and departments will be involved in the organisation, including the municipal waste management unit and the local development agency, which will present initiatives supporting environmental protection and the development of a more sustainable local economy.

One of the most spectacular elements of the programme will be an eco-fashion show prepared by preschool children. The youngest participants will present outfits made from recycled materials and reusable resources, demonstrating in a creative way that recycling and reusing materials can be both environmentally responsible and inspiring.

The picnic will also include environmental workshops and competitions, introducing participants to topics related to environmental protection, waste management and responsible use of natural resources. Through interactive educational activities, residents will learn how everyday consumer decisions can support a more sustainable economic model.

An important element of the event will be a waste collection campaign in exchange for plant seedlings. This initiative aims to encourage residents to properly segregate waste and to show that responsible resource management can go hand in hand with greening the spaces around us.

An information point for the ‘Clean air’ programme will also be available on site, where residents will be able to obtain information about support opportunities for replacing heating sources, carrying out building thermal upgrades and improving the energy efficiency of their homes.

‘Midsummer inspirations for nature’ demonstrates that local events can play an important role in building environmental awareness and supporting a nature-friendly economy. The picnic reminds participants that investing in nature begins with knowledge, cooperation and everyday choices.

The event is part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.

Host: Andrzej Gwóźdź, eco-manager of the Zawiercie Municipality.
