Can investing in nature begin with a simple choice of transport? In the Pietrowice Wielkie municipality, residents discover that it can. During the event ‘Mission: green investment – cycling orienteering rally’, participants set off on a cycling adventure combined with discovering local nature and learning about clean air and environmentally friendly everyday solutions.
The cycling orienteering rally has been attracting residents of different ages for many years. This year’s edition gains an additional educational dimension through the involvement of an eco-manager, introducing environmental themes related to reducing low emissions and protecting air quality.
Participants follow a route passing through different parts of the Pietrowice Wielkie municipality. Teams search for designated checkpoints in the field, complete prepared tasks and reach the finish line using maps and orientation clues. This format encourages outdoor activity, teamwork and discovering the natural attractions of the local area.
The bicycle plays a central role in the event. The rally demonstrates that cycling is one of the simplest and most accessible ways to reduce air pollution, much of which is generated by road transport. By choosing a bicycle instead of a combustion-engine vehicle, residents can directly contribute to improving air quality in their municipality.
During the event, participants also have the opportunity to visit an information stand run by an eco-manager, where educational materials and project-related materials promoting clean air initiatives are available. The stand provides an opportunity for discussion about environmentally responsible everyday choices and how local communities can work together to protect the environment.
The rally is open and family-friendly, welcoming participants of all ages, both individually and in teams. It demonstrates that investing in nature can begin with simple actions – physical activity, choosing environmentally friendly transport and exploring the natural surroundings of one’s community.
The event is a part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.'
