Tu café, tu opinión y el futuro de Europa: Workshop ECOFFEE y recomendaciones políticas de bioeconomía.

  • Training and workshops

What impact does your daily coffee have on European Union policies? As part of EU Green Week 2026, the Finnova Foundation is organising this interactive workshop, which goes beyond the format of a conventional seminar to become an official Policy Engagement Action of the ECOFFEE project under Horizon Europe.

The purpose of the event is to present the disruptive results of ECOFFEE, an initiative that transforms coffee grounds from the hospitality sector into high-value resources such as natural biocides and animal nutrition. Its central objective is to connect technical innovation with decision-making in Brussels by identifying legislative barriers and proposing recommendations that accelerate the transition towards a zero-waste Europe.

The session is structured in three key segments. The first focuses on the presentation of results, with interventions by the leading consortium partners (AZTI, Euskovazza and FumiHogar) on the project’s industrial scale-up. This is followed by a dialogue and clustering panel, bringing together experts and representatives from Tecnova, CQMassó, BB Asesores and sister projects such as AL-INVEST Verde and LIFE NEXTFUMIGREEN, with the aim of building transnational synergies. The final segment will highlight the institutional and citizen voice, with the participation of representatives from DG ENV, DG GROW and Members of the European Parliament (TBC) to validate the project’s proposals.

As experts in awareness-raising and European funding, the organisers will reserve the final five minutes of the session for a live interactive questionnaire. The data and opinions collected will not be treated as a simple survey, but processed as formal citizen recommendations, which the Finnova Foundation will present to the European institutions to help shape future bioeconomy and sustainability policies.

The event is aimed at aware and engaged citizens, entrepreneurs, researchers, industry representatives and public policy decision-makers interested in real Nature-based Solutions.

Join the event to discover how an everyday action can help change European legislation and give your coffee a second life.
